          멜로디가 경쾌하고 비교적 연주가 쉬워 어린이들이 즐겨

          연주하는 깔끔하고 사랑스런 피아노 소품이다.

          엘리제가 어떤 여성인지는 밝혀지지 않고 있으나, 베토벤이 

          초고에 “테레제를 위해(Für Therese), 1810년4월27일, 베

          토벤'이라고 쓴 걸로 보아, 당시 자신이 연정을 품고 있던

          17세 여성 Therese Malfatti (1792–1851)가 아닐까 추정된

          다.

                               “Für Therese”

            Therese is suggested being Therese Malfatti (1792–1851),

            a friend and student of Beethoven's, to whom he proposed

            in 1810, but she turned down to marry the Austrian noble-

            man and state official Wilhelm von Droßdik in 1816.
